Are We All God's Children, or Just Christians?

We are Not Servants, but Children of God!

Text: Galatians 4:1-7

4 Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;

2 But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.

3 Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:

4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

How many times as a Son, did I disappoint my parents. I remember once I had an uncle visiting during my spring break, I was about 14 and we went fishing every day and I forgot about a project I was supposed to do for school, so I found a big piece of Plywood and a poster that covered most of what the project was about and I pasted it on the plywood the late night before school the next day. When I turned it in my teacher asked me, so what did you do on this project….I lied and told him that I had printed the poster with a printing press my family owned! Funny, it had a copyright mark on the bottom and when my teacher called my Dad, he said: I am really disappointed in you Mark, and when I got home, my Dad was really disappointed in me, My Mother was livid and embarrassed and all the kids at school were smirking at me.

Here I was, an ordained missionary, a Summer Missionary for CEF, A preacher telling all the kids at School about Jesus and yet…I lied…..I felt really, really bad and I remember opening my Bible to the story of the Prodigal Son:

This morning I want you to see the difference between just being someone who serves God as a "Christian" and being a true Child of God! The Apostle Paul was trying to teach the Galatians that just because they were the Chosen race of God, did not mean that they were not under supervision and that in fact, if they were in Christ, they were not servants and Children of Abraham, but were actually the Adopted Children of God! As we approach the Easter Season, there will be many blessings of Special Music this month! We were all blessed already by our 93 Year-old Singer this past week as Edna and Alton sang in two-part harmony about the Purple Robe that Christ wore. This Sunday we have Bobbie and Ann, The next week we have Jana, Lee and Ann and a special on Palm Sunday that you will not want to Miss! Let's fill the House of God this week and remember....Sunday is Coming!

Love you all,

Pastor M. E. Rosson
