Are you Troubled with Winter Depression?
Many people suffer from a seasonal depression in the Winter time. It starts with Holidays and family dynamics, which are not always the best, and then flu and sickness seems to settle in each year, stripping congregations of different members from week to week. Many of our Senior Members are hit hard with this especially when it is darker outside and they don't drive as much and when they get sick, it seems to weaken them more. It is easy to get depressed when you forget what God has promised.
I was reading my Bible this morning and thinking of these things when I came across a wonderful passage:
Romans 8:37-39 King James Version (KJV)
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Did you get that Church of God? We are More than conquerors! So what exactly is a conqueror?
The Greek Word here is hypernikáō
This means to be completely and overwhelmingly Victorious!
Death, not a problem for those of us with Eternal Life....Life...the stuff of Earth as Rich Mullins called it, the seasons, the depression, the darkness...we can be Completely and Overwhelmingly Victorious over these things!
Angels and Demons and those who are in power....We beat them too!
Things present, our present situation....We are going to be completely and Overwhelmingly Victorious over what ever situation you find yourself in now! The Future, not a problem for those who are in the palm of the Creator's hand...God has this future all planned out for you if you will follow it, you have nothing to worry about it as you will be Overwhelmingly Victorious about tomorrow as we know who Holds Tomorrow!!
Where are you in your Walk with God, at a all time Low or a an all time High? Does not matter, you will be overwhelmingly Victorious! Why? Because God loves you soooo Much!
I was sharing with my little granddaughter (Step Grand-daughter) about how to use a compass and then I showed her a Globe of this world. I asked her if she kept going North and got past the North Pole, what direction would she be traveling...she thought about it and said....South? Then I asked her to go East....and keep going all around the Globe, she said with amazement, Wow, no matter how far I go, it is still East! I then told her that the Bible says this:
As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. That is Grace!
Jesus loved us so much, that He stretched out his arms...and He died. Oh how God Loves you my friend, do not be depressed, be joyous and Happy because you shall be overwhelmingly victorious over all the obstacles of this life and the life to come if, you know Jesus as your Savior! Winter is but a short season and Spring is coming! This life is but a short Season and remember, Jesus is coming!
