Do You Wonder Why the Stars are in the Sky?

Do You Wonder Why The Stars are in the Sky?

Text: Psalm 19 Part 1

19 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.

3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.

4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,

5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.

6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

Introduction:

While we do not know when this Psalm has been penned, we do know by whom:

The heading states: To the Chief Musician, a Psalm of David," informs us that David wrote it, and that it was committed to the Master of the service of song in the sanctuary for the use of the assembled worshippers. In his earliest days the psalmist, while keeping his father's flock, had devoted himself to the study of God's two great books--nature and Scripture;

David would sit out at night, no bright city lights to dim the sky above and wonder at the Stars, the moon and the Planets and in Awe of their wonder, He believed that God created them, for our pleasure!

Larry Norman wrote a song in the late sixties, early seventies:

When I was a boy, I opened my eyes, looking to the hand that move the stars across the Sky

And in my simple way, I believed , the one who made the stars above, was reaching down to me!

Obviously Larry Norman and David had much in common with myself for as a boy looking into the night sky with the Forest all around me, I reached out and said, God, if you are out there? Show me!

David would show us the main points of Psalm 19 in this way:

That God Created the Heavens for they are too complicated to have been created on their own

That there is no excuse, when viewing the Heavens, to deny the existence of God

God Created a Marvelous Creation for us to enjoy!
