Is Our Church Being Invaded?
Secular Culture has Invaded the Church!
Text: Galatians 4:9-18
9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?
10 Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.
11 I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.
12 Brethren, I beseech you, be as I am; for I am as ye are: ye have not injured me at all.
13 Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first.
14 And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.
15 Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me.
16 Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?
17 They zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect them.
18 But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you.
Let us Pray
Back in the Days of Paul, those Roman days, there were a lot of pagan festivals.
There was a festival following the first Full Moon after the Spring Equinox…It was a fertility Festival celebrating gods and goddesses who helped us with our procreation! It was a festival celebrated with lots of wine and debauchery with temple prostitutes allowing worshipers of these gods to physically celebrate the holiday. In the year 325, after Constantine’s conversion, the Church decided to celebrate the Risen Savior as a replacement for this holiday. We call it Easter Sunday and today secular culture has returned it to the original origins… Rabbits…are known for what…breeding….Eggs are a symbol of fertility…So do we celebrate the Risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ or do we do a little of both. This is only one sign that secular culture is invading the Church and it had already started back in Paul’s time as they were observing days, months, times and years….
Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with using a candy hunt as a outreach to the children of the Church as long as when we get them here we teach them what Easter is really all about. There is nothing wrong with having presents under a tree to celebrate Christmas, as long as we teach our Children the real reason for Christmas, that the birth of Jesus is the reason for the season!
This morning I want us to see the growing signs of secular Culture trying to Cancel the Church as we know it and what we can do to combat it in our own lives.-Wow, this is sure to be a must hear Sermon this coming Sunday! Don't miss it and bring a friend and see what God is doing at Eastview Baptist Church and possibly, what God can do with your life! Don't Forget! Daylight Savings Time begins this coming Sunday!
Love you all,
