Tennessee Golden Offering Sunday!

We have heard the Macedonian call today,

“Send the light! Send the light!”

And a golden off’ring at the cross we lay,

Send the light! Send the light!

Send the light, the blessed Gospel light;

Let it shine from shore to shore!

Send the light, and let its radiant beams

Light the world forevermore!

Charles H Gabriel was the author of this famous hymn, the backstory of this hymn says that he was walking in town with the hymn written, in his pocket and then the following story is told:

There is one story, that the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Wilton (Pastor Pollock or McAulay) once saw Gabriel walking in town early in the week. He asked Gabriel if he knew a good song to go along with his sermon. ... He had written "Send the Light," which became his first commercial song, and he told the Pastor, here, use this one.!

We are celebrating and supporting Tennessee Missions with the Golden offering all the month of September! This Sunday we will host a Special TN Missionary to preach and have a dinner afterwards for everyone that comes! Every dollar of the Golden Offering goes to support Tennessee Missions and Sending the Light to our friends and Neighbors right here in Shelbyville! Don't miss this upcoming special Sunday and Invite a Friend, for all are welcome to step out of the darkness, into the Light!

It is a Joy to be your Pastor,
